Copart: The largest online salvage auction, with yards in every state. Many Copart cars are insurance write-offs, so expect non-running and damaged vehicles. After payment, Copart issues release details that our driver presents at the yard.

IAA (Insurance Auto Auctions): Another major salvage and total-loss auction. As with Copart, the vehicle is released to your transporter once payment clears.

Manheim: The largest dealer-only wholesale auction. Dealers ship single cars and full loads from Manheim locations to their lots.

ADESA: A dealer wholesale auction with physical and online sales. Once your purchase is paid, the vehicle is released for pickup by the transporter you assign — share the release details with us at booking.

Online and collector auctions: Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, eBay Motors, and collector auctions like Barrett-Jackson and Mecum. These vehicles are usually picked up from the seller or the event, and high-value cars often travel on enclosed transport.

Government and fleet auctions: Police, municipal, and fleet liquidation sales, including retired work trucks, buses, and ambulances.

Online auctions give buyers a short window — typically 3–7 business days — to remove a vehicle before daily storage fees begin. At $30–$75 per day depending on the facility, a slow pickup can erase the money you saved at the auction.

Many auction cars can't drive onto a trailer. That doesn't stop the shipment — it changes the equipment.

Non-running vehicles: We dispatch a winch-equipped carrier. A flat non-running surcharge applies, typically $150–$250 depending on the carrier.

Vehicles without keys: A car without keys can usually still be winched on if its wheels roll and it can be steered. Tell us at booking if the steering is locked.

Vehicles that don't roll: Seized wheels or missing tires need a forklift to load. Most auction yards load vehicles with forklifts, but the delivery end needs a way to unload as well.

Flood, fire, and heavy damage: Describe the damage honestly when you book. Carriers need to know about leaking fluids, loose panels, or missing glass before they arrive.

Because salvage cars arrive with existing damage, the condition report on the Bill of Lading at pickup is your protection. Ask for photos if you can't be at the yard.

Auction car shipping is priced like standard auto transport — by distance, vehicle size, and condition. On open transport, typical ranges are:

250 miles: $225–$275 running; $360–$440 non-running.

750 miles: $540–$660 running; $675–$825 non-running.

1,500 miles: $880–$1,070 running; $1,010–$1,240 non-running.
